Results from the Pilot Cities Project were recently presented to the Environment and Planning Council. Findings indicate that waste sorting has become routine, and a third of respondents would willingly stop driving to work in favor of taking the city bus or another mode of transportation. 

The Natural Science Teachers' Learning Community for the 2026–2027 school year launched in August with a popular course supporting teachers' work and ongoing professional development in science instruction.

The City Executive Council approved Reykjavík City's interim financial report for the January–June 2026 period today, Thursday, Sept. 10. 

Families planning to use City preschool services on the days when primary schools are on fall break — Oct. 22, 23 and 26, and between Christmas and New Year's — must register their children separately. Registration is open Sept. 10–20.
