Optional care days this fall at preschools

Families planning to use City preschool services on the days when primary schools are on fall break — Oct. 22, 23 and 26, and between Christmas and New Year's — must register their children separately. Registration is open Sept. 10–20.

2026 Guðrún Helgadóttir Children's Book Award presented at Höfði

Eva Rún Þorgeirsdóttir and Blær Guðmundsdóttir's manuscript, "Bestu vinir" (Best Friends), won the Guðrún Helgadóttir Children's Book Award today. The presentation took place during a formal ceremony at Höfði.

A third would leave the car at home

Results from the Pilot Cities Project were recently presented to the Environment and Planning Council. Findings indicate that waste sorting has become routine, and a third of respondents would willingly stop driving to work in favor of taking the city bus or another mode of transportation.
