Registration open for optional care days this fall at preschools

Families planning to use City preschool services on the days when primary schools are on fall break — Oct. 22, 23 and 26, and between Christmas and New Year's — must register their children separately. Registration is open Sept. 10–20.

Fall break and Christmas break

Registration is completed through the Vala Preschool application portal.

Important details:

  • Attendance on optional care days remains voluntary.
  • If you want your child to attend, you must register them separately here. A 5,000 ISK daily fee applies.
  • Younger siblings receive a 50% discount, and the third child attends optional care days for free.
  • Unregistered children are considered on break.
  • You can register your child for individual days or all available days during the fall semester.
  • Fees apply for all registered days, regardless of attendance.
  • Registration is binding and applies only to the selected days.
  • We will not accept registrations after the Sept. 20 deadline.

Registration for the primary school winter break in February and Holy Week runs Jan. 10–20.
